The Star of the Grand Cross to the Iron cross has been awarded only twice since its inception in 1813. to Field Marshal Gebhard von Blücher in 1813 and to Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg in 1918. The award was worn on the left breast. The central device is a standard sized Iron Cross with silvered finish and painted centre. This is riveted onto a large gold plated star. Complete with the correct large flat pin. An nice quality example of this extremely impressive and unique award.
